Accounting

I has volunteered to account for the Medical Sector between the dates of twenty-eighth of February, 2009 and twenty-ninth of march, 2009 for six hours. Accounting need people to be patient and attentional. In fact, I don not like this job because of too many Numbers made me mad.

My task was to calculate all the results of medicine prices. Calculator, pen, notebooks, and drafts were my necessary tools. I held pen on the right hand and used my left hand to press calculator at the same time. This position can save much time and be convince. I should focus on each number, or I would make the mistake because I would remember wrong numbers. The harder work was to find all the same medicines and record the amounts among more than one hundred notebooks.

After calculating, I feel so successful as looking at the number calculated by me. To be an accountant must have the value of responsibilities, real, and carefulness. Due to my quality is “ENFP” and “ENFJ”. I thought accountant is not suitable for me to be in the future. I like something new and my attention to the outer world. Numbers represent something in order and not easy to change. It is opposite to me. I love to see life as full of possibilities. That can be my motivations.

In addition, being an accountant spend most time staying in the office and calculating the numbers. I am crazy about fashion. This is a chance to try different jobs and look for a job I may like in the future.

Painting

I has volunteered to paint P.E. room for Mr. Harris between the dates of mach 21st,2009 and April 5th, 2009 for 5.5 hours. Mr. Harris and us want to decorate the P.E. room and make P.E. more good-looking.

We spent much time on deciding what we should draw. We came up with three ideas, one was to make P.E. room look like garden, second one was to draw a huge lion, and the third one was to draw some people doing sports. Finally, we reached the same idea – third one.
We brought some magazines and newspaper. Mr. Harris provided us the Canadian P.E. textbook. We drew four people – basketball player, volleyball player, runner, and student doing gymnastic actions.

Jenny and I were responsible for the volleyball player. She drew the outline and I painted different colours. During painting, we can talk with each other and talking can make the environment more harmony and benefit for understanding others’ meaning. I need to hold the table when Jenny was drawing because it was dangerous to stand on the table. This was a team work. We should support each other and protect ourselves.

It was opportunity to enjoy art and gain interest of art. Through this volunteer work, I learned listening to others’ idea can make my mind wider and be more helpful to me. Certainly, we also need to learn how to recognize what right or wrong is. So, when we enter into this society, we will make less mistakes and gain more choices.

Badminton club

Badminton has been developing quickly. It is advantageous for our health and feeling. So I joined the GCA badminton club. I went to the gym of Nanjing foreign language school for playing badminton every Wednesday evening. This club brought me much fun and knowledge.

I learned the rules of badminton. Before play begins, the shuttlecock is hit in the air and the direction in which it is pointing when it lands determines which side serves first. I understood how to get scores. A singles and doubles games consists of 15 points. A match shall be 2 out of 3 games. The new rule is that a player or team may score points while serving or receiving. The service areas are different between singles and doubles games. The singles court is the narrow inside lines. The doubles courts court is the wider outside lines. The back line is the wide outside line and is the same in singles and doubles games. After joining the badminton club, I knew the rules of service. It is important during the badminton games. players or teams shall serve and receive from the right hand service courts when the server’s score is 0 or any even number of points. The players or teams shall serve and receive from the left hand courts when the server’s score is an uneven number of points. Both sides change service courts after each point is scored. In addition, the server may not serve unless his opponent is ready. However, the opponent shall be deemed ready if a return of the service is attempted. If when attempting to serve, the server misses the shuttlecock completely, it is not a fault.

I gained the insights about myself. During doubles play, two partners needs support each other and I can not play badminton by myself. I should draw on each other’s merits and raise the level together. I acquaint that I am good at playing on the fore-court. The skills that required to work effectively and safely with other students at GCA are respecting each others, supporting partners, being good at listening other opinion, and being ready before not procrastinating. The club would be develop well in the future. Currently, club held some plays against other schools. We won more than half games. This point prove our club will have a good development. Nevertheless, club members are too sluggish and always let the grass grow under their feet. Some people usually came when we prepare go home and some even not come gym to practice. They would lose many chance to learn and practice. I had joined the mixed doubles competition. Even though I lost the competition, I learned a lot from it. Before competition, we need prepare everything, for example: the suitable rackets, warm up, water and so on. When the situation was unfavourable, we ought to clam down and think what we would do next. Correct positions benefited from the players during the competition.

One of my personal goals is to loss weight. Playing badminton is a good way to achieve my goal. Yet, we can not play badminton anywhere, especially windy day. I like badminton because having a rest after studying or working is beneficial for my health.

Fashion Show

I went Fashion Show that hold by Ms. Hadley in the Nanjing foreign language school from 18:00 to 19:00 on twenty- seventh of April. This show was the combination of teachers’ and students’ efforts. Whoever teachers and students spent much time on the show. All cloths that models wore were made by us. The purpose of show was to have fun and show our fruits.

Under the magnificent lamplight, dancers waved their bodies brought the first on-the-spot high tide. We knew so many fantastic cloths would be shown on this show, and more than 40 models would appear in front of my eyes.
We caught sight of fashionable GCA teachers coming out of the behind stage one by one. They wore different styles clothes. Some teachers seemed to come from ancient china. Next three topics were uniform, party cloths, and prom cloths.

Our group model was Karen. She wore party cloth. My favourite cloth among over 40 cloths was our group’s one out of question. We thought black and white are always fashionable, and they never go out of fashion. This little black skirt is one of the Korean types and it may look very lovely when girls are wearing them. The white shirt is also classical. Black and white is usually more comfortable to see during the party time.

After the end of show, I recalled the process of making the cloth. This process was fun and included our happy stories. I like fashion show very much because it is not only magnificent and fashionable, but also make me enjoy the moment of success and understand the road to success is not flat.

Teaching Primary School Students

Ms. Bartell organized a service activity to teach primary school students English. My classmates and I get this valuable chance to the Beijing east road primary school for teaching them English from 14:45 to 16:45 on eighth of April. It is a chance for me to enjoy being a teacher and learn how to use a better way to teach others.

Before entering the classroom, I was so excited and a little bit nervous. I was so happy that Ms. Bartell called my name and ordered me to teach two grils because I thought teaching girls were easier than teaching boys. I noticed that one girl had a sign which had two red lines. I knew it represents she was a monitor of this class. Through several minutes talking, I found another girl’s English was poor. To my surprise, she wanted to learn more and tried her best to read each words.

Jenny’s group, Abe’s group, and my group came together. We played game called “Simon says”. Every members were so interested in this game. The girl with a sign always won the game. After playing game, we taught them to read some words, such as: finger, toes, and so on. The girl who was weak in English was always answered our questions. In my opinion, she remembered these word attentively. Time past quickly and we took pictures together.

This memory was worth recollecting. I felt tired after teaching because of noisy that made by students. To teach people, we need share our interesting topic and let others trust us. If we can open others’ hearts, it will be easier to teach others whoever boys and girls.
