All grade 10 students had a meeting with the professional artist of garden last Monday. He talked what the garden is, four types of gardens and the classical garden of Su Zhou.
First, he showed us a movie about the classical garden of Su Zhou. Next, he talked about the garden. Garden means an area outside that people can enjoy after professional gardeners change it by planting plants and other forms of nature and changing its terrain. Garden includes yard, park, and zoo and so on. The Chinese traditional word garden has four parts. Each part has different meaning. They are boundary, changing terrain, pool and plants. Garden is not only as a recreational purpose, but also protects and improves the function of the environment.
There are four main kinds of Chinese garden. They are royal garden, private garden, religion garden, landscape architecture. Royal garden is for emperor to rest and have fun. The characters are large-scale, tall buildings, more real mountain and water, construction in magnificent color. The well-known royal gardens are summer palace in Beijing, Bahia Park in Beijing, and mountain resort in Hebei. Private garden is for imperial relation. The characters are small-scale, fake rocky and water, showing elegant, its construction is slim and sleek. Religion garden is for religions, such as Buddhism. Different religions have different styles. Landscape architecture is for people to enjoy it.
Suzhou garden is one example of private gardens. Gardens in Suzhou reached its height during the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are more than 200 private gardens. Chinese garden art combines literature of Chinese painting and art, especially affected by people of Tang dynasty. Suzhou classical garden make homes and garden become one; it can enjoy, travel and live. It and nature live in harmony. In addition, it includes Chinese traditional culture.
I like this topic and I learn the garden a lot from this meeting. There are many photographs. I am interested in it. I enjoy the beauty and nature. In my opinion, it will help us when we travel to places such as Su Zhou, we will know how to appreciate the garden. However, it is pity because artist just talk and it is so boring.
In general speaking, the meeting is good. Su Zhou is a good place to travel.
